Ireland Visa Application Process from India

Step 1: Apply Online via AVATS

Submit your visa application at visas.inis.gov.ie. Create an account, complete the long-stay study visa form, and pay the visa fee: €60 for single entry or €100 for multiple entry (strongly recommended for Ireland).

Step 2: Book VFS Appointment

Ireland visa applications are submitted through VFS Global in India. Available in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. Book the next available appointment — VFS appointments for Irish visas are typically available within 1–2 weeks.

Step 3: Attend VFS and Submit Biometrics

Submit your original documents and biometrics (fingerprints and photo) at the VFS centre. VFS will send your documents to the Irish Embassy/Consulate for processing.

Step 4: Wait for Decision

Processing time: 4–6 weeks from date of biometric submission. Some applications are processed in 2–3 weeks during off-peak periods (January–March). You can track your application on the AVATS portal.

After Arriving in Ireland: GNIB Registration

Within 90 days of arriving in Ireland, you must register with the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) to receive your Irish Residence Permit (IRP) card with Stamp 2 permission. Book your GNIB appointment online at inisonline.jahs.ie. Bring your passport, proof of address in Ireland, letter of enrollment, and fee (€300).

Post-Study Work Visa: Stay 2 More Years

After graduating from an Irish university (NFQ Level 7 or above), you can apply for a Third Level Graduate Programme permission — 2 years if you graduated with a degree or higher, 1 year for postgraduate diploma.
